(Secure Socket Layer)
Why does your website need SSL?
What is SSL?
We will try and make it non-tecky-speak
SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral. SSL is an industry standard and is used by millions of websites in the protection of their online transactions with their customers.
Normally having an SSL Certificate with your website costs around £30 but we offer it to all our Clients from £16 per year
When you type into your browser a web address, once it is found, on the left hand side you normally see an open or closed padlock and the beginning of the web address begins with “http://”
A website default is the open lock which if you hover over it, it will advise you that the link to the web server is not secure.
Once the padlock is closed, the beginning then becomes “https://” the ending “s” meaning “secure”; this then advises that the link is secure, as simple as that!
